"They all said I couldn’t do it… look at me now!", Leon Edwards exclaims after winning the UFC Welterweight title. This post fight interview was one of the most inspirational moments in the UFC. Leon Edwards is defending his belt this Saturday in a rematch against the #2 ranked Belal Muhammad. Also headlining the main card, the intern Heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall versus Curtis Blaydes in a rematch as well. Both fights are very similar in the fact that the challenger are both wrestlers and both fights are rematches. For Aspinall and Edwards this card is a huge deal since it is in their home country of England. My prediction for both fights is knockouts for the champions, their opponents’ styles are heavily based on wrestling. Aspinall and Edwards have great takedown defense, this will be a problem for Blaydes and Muhammad.

Lebron or Jordan? The question asked by all NBA fans around the world. But recently on social media fans are debating which team is better: the 1992 dream team or the 2024 dream team? Just like the Jordan v Lebron debate, this dream team scenario has separated new generation NBA fans and the old school fans. One factor brought up by young fans is the caliber of talent the 1992 dream team faced. Most games for them (1992) where blowout leads with no real competition. Basketball in 1992 hadn’t spread across the globe yet, almost all NBA players were American. Compared to now the best talent in the NBA comes from different countries like Serbia, France, Croatia, and Spain. There is definitely an argument here, the level of talent in international games has greatly improved. For example, recently the United States almost lost to South Sudan, a country not known for basketball. Me personally, I believe the 2024 dream team would win because of the different playstyle, the 1992 team would have difficulty adjusting. 3pt shots taken would give the 2024 team an advantage as well.

Miami Heat win 2024 Summer League in OT thriller
youtubeThe Miami Heat just barely beat the Memphis Grizzlies in an overtime thriller 120-118. This was the highest scoring game ever in the summer league championship and only the second final to go into overtime. Both teams put on a show, displaying high level athleticism. They played their hearts out, even in a summer league that doesn’t affect the regular season standings. Basketball fans all over the country were taken by surprise when the final was such a nail biter. The final MVP, Josh Christopher led the heat with 24 pts, Kel'el Ware put up 21 points with 10 rebounds, Alondes Williams scored 21, and Cole Swider put up 19 points. As a Miami fan myself, this game painted a bright future in the regular season. Summer league teams consist of rookies, young players (2-4 years in the league), and recently drafted players. Miami looked NBA ready, the Heat's prospects showed maturity and chemistry on the court. The future is bright for Miami Heat fans!
